This lovely outdoor focused nursery is seeking to recruit a childcare practitioner who is enthusiastic about working in childcare.

We have a gorgeous setting in the heart of North Yorkshire countryside, and the nursery is located close to A1, and is easily accessible from Richmond, Catterick, Bedale, Northallerton and Ripon. It’s based on a working farm hence to be considered for this job you must have a love of the outdoors – as the nursery ensures that children may enjoy the outside facilities in all seasons.

To be considered for this practitioner role you should have completed your Level 3 childcare qualification and have 2 years post qualification experience.

Candidates must be diligent, polite, friendly, confident and most importantly have a love for children. You will act as a key person for a small number of children.                 

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • You will promote a caring, helpful unbiased attitude towards children, staff, parents/carers and members of the wider community.
  • You will ensure children are safeguarded at all time through excellent high quality childcare.
  • Comply with and meet ALL Policies and Procedures, especially Safeguarding confidentiality, fire, and Health and Safety procedures.
  • You will be aware of safeguarding issues and ensure all safeguarding concerns are reported in accordance with our safeguarding policy.
  • Comply with and meet ALL our legal requirements including those of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
  • Ensure the children’s individual medical, dietary, health and hygiene requirements are fully understood and adhered to at all time.
  • Ensure the nursery offers an environment, which reflects the diversity of all children and staff demonstrate a sensitive approach to equal opportunities, cultural and religious variations.
  • You will ensure effective and professional communication is used with staff, parents and outside agencies.
  • Build a positive professional relationship with parents/carers to ensure children get the best start in life, and understand that working in close partnership with parents/carers will help develop children’s independence, confidence and self-esteem, and build their resilience and well-being.
  • You will promote an exciting learning environment both outdoors and indoors.
  • You will work with the whole nursery team in providing a friendly, caring and relaxing environment in order to encourage and develop children in our care.
  • You will follow all daily routines and ensure records are kept up to date.
  • Comply with and help maintain all risk assessments.
  • You will be an effective key worker within the room and maintain your own key worker responsibilities.
  • You will effectively plan for the children and carry out appropriate and differentiated activities suitable to the age range of the children, in line with the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage.
  • You will complete assessments/evaluations for your key children regularly.
  • You will work closely with other staff and professionals as appropriate.
  • To communicate with parents and other visitors in a calm, friendly and efficient manner.
  • To attend and contribute to parent/keyworker and room staff meetings.
  • To support smooth transition for children.
  • To administer first aid at an appropriate level and be responsible for recording incidents in accordance with Ofsted standards.
  • To assist children with and promote a high standard personal hygiene.
  • To actively promote the healthy eating policy adopted by the setting, with particular regard to children’s snacks.
  • To keep abreast of current issues and attend training as necessary.
